About Victoria Lopez

My purpose is to help people who struggle with negative self-beliefs live a life they are proud of. Going through traumatic experiences can affect every aspect of one’s present life and lead to unhealthy life choices. The things that helped us get through and survive hard moments in our past can be the very things holding us back from living the life that we want now.

From someone who was taught to put on a brave face and stuff feelings down at a very young age, I can help you see there is more to life than just getting through the day. It is all right to be angry, sad, and anxious; but those feelings don’t have to control of your life. Sometimes we have built up walls so high that we might not know it’s possible to be happy with who we are and trust ourselves, let alone other people. I am inspired by people who want to break the cycle of how they were raised or what they have gone through to pave a new path.

Under the supervision of Tempa Sherrill LPC-S

I graduated from Tarleton State University with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling in 2017. I have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients, but they all have at least one thing in common – trauma. I have worked with veterans, those struggling with substance abuse, children and adults with different intellectual and developmental abilities, survivors of abuse, and other victims of crimes. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to support those who have gone through traumatic experiences. I use a mind-body approach, with person-centered activities, to help you accomplish your goals.

My approach is non-judgmental and direct. I have a dark sense of humor sometimes, but I find that when life keeps knocking you down, it’s okay to be honest about what gets us through each day with a sense of humor. I take a personalized approach with each client – I know that sometimes deep breathing and talking about your feelings doesn’t automatically change the way you feel, so I hope to work with you to find what tools will help. We will explore your background together and decide what is most appropriate for you. I know sitting across from a stranger can seem scary, disagreeable, or just plain weird, so we will get to know each other first; I will never ask you to open up about experiences that you don’t feel ready to address.

If you are wanting to move on from your past, stop making unhealthy choices to get through each day, or if you simply want therapy because you are feeling stuck or alone, please click the link below to schedule with me. You don’t have to keep asking yourself “what’s the point?”.
